We praise God for the end of another week and for His faithfulness.

What a great week we have had with our first Evergreen social of the year and a membership class on Wednesday! We are also looking forward to the beginning of Lent.

We have new updates and opportunities to tell you about!

DISCIPLESHIP AND MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Lent Begins on Wednesday

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which falls on Feb. 22. Through the celebration of Lent, we prepare for Easter by thinking about the narrative of the passion-death-resurrection and, in doing so, take time to review and reflect on how we might progress in our faith. It is also a time for us to contemplate our propensity to sin and the need for confession, repentance, and contrition, i.e. let go of the ways of thinking, speaking, and acting that prevents us from growing in spiritual maturity.

Women's Bible Study

Weekly, Starts Mar. 9, 9:45 a.m., RAC Youth Centre!
We are beginning a new women’s Bible study on "Live No Lies" by John Mark Comer. The cost is $25 for a book. “Live No Lies is a brilliant, deep, scriptural, and will equip you to face the enemy and fight.”―Jennie Allen. Ancient apprentices of Jesus developed a paradigm for this war; they spoke of the three enemies of the soul: the devil, the flesh, and the world. John Mark Comer combines cultural analysis with spiritual formation. He identifies the role lies play in our spiritual deformation and lays out a strategic plan to overcome them. Register: cguinness@rexdalealliance.ca.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, FAMILY NEWS, PRAISE AND PRAYER REQUESTS

Memorial Service for Marjorie Beaver

The family and friends of Marjorie Beaver are grieving her homegoing. There will be a memorial service at Wards Funeral Home (2035 Weston Rd, York, M9N 1X7) Sat., Feb. 25. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. with the service at 1:30 p.m. All are invited to attend as we remember our friend Marjorie.

Financial Update – January, 2023

As you will remember, in December, offerings to the Ministry Fund were $179,950 which surpassed the December budget target of $175,000. This was a fantastic result for which we have been very thankful! As we started 2023, we were back to a lower target for the month of January that matches all of the other months in this fiscal year - $75,000. Unfortunately, January’s offerings were $63,250 coming up short by about $12,000. We look to February and beyond to start making up some of the budget deficit for this year. Thank you again for investing in the mission of Rexdale Alliance Church!
